This event brings together current and emerging green energy leaders.
Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society's Youth Energy & Environment Action Program (YEEAP)'s Beat the Heat contest is searching for the next great green plan to help curb climate change. Serving as a forward-thinking educational platform that provokes thought, discussion, engagement and action in post secondary and post graduate institutions, Beat the Heat seeks to advance energy efficiency and environment conservation initiatives in BC. To do this, Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society, in partnership with FortisBC, has challenged students across the province to come up with a plan to optimize natural gas use for a greener BC.
Join us at 1:00 pm in the BC Hydro theatre in the CIRS building at UBC as thetwo Finalists present their plans live in front of a panel of judges, featuring the Honourable Naomi Yamamoto, Minister of Advanced Education, Tony Bi, Associate Director at UBC's Clean Energy Research Centre, and you, the audience!Join us afterwards in the main lobbyfor some light snacks, refreshments and discussion about the afternoon's presentations.
