The 2012 Pan American Latin Jazz Festival will be a one-day festival to celebrate the culture of the Americas, on Saturday, July 14, 2012.
At the Mel Lastman Square in Toronto, this will be a Latin Jazz extravaganza featuring some of the best Latin Jazz performers in Toronto and Ottawa.
This event will become a yearly festival beyond the 2.015 Pan Am Games in Canada.
Artists for this first edition who pay homage to the Latin Jazz genre
will be: the award-winning flutist and Andean Flute Kena virtuoso Carlos Bastidas
(Colombia), Juno winner Hilario Durán (Cuba), singer/songwriter and radio host in Jazz
FM.91 Laura Fernández (Spain), singer/songwriter and Ottawa’s leading Latin musician
Alicia Borisonik (Argentina), master guitarist Pablo Gutierrez (Chile), high energy
ensemble Samba Toronto (Brazil), 2010 Canadian smooth jazz guitarist of the year Rob
Tardik (Canada), Brownman & CRUZAO Latin-Jazz Trio (Trinidad, Mexico and Cuba),
Carla Casanova (Venezuela), Gypsy Kittenz (Canada, Uruguay) and Giovanni Ruiz
(Colombia), among others.
Traditional food will be available for purchase along with display tables of arts and crafts from local artisans, as well as our sponsors, businesses from different economic sectors including travel and tourism.
Free admission.
This event is organized by the Hispanic-Canadian Arts and Culture Association, a not for profit organization that promotes the Hispanic culture in Canada. The 2012 Pan American Latin Jazz Festival is kindly supported by Ontario Ministry of Tourism, the Mississauga Arts Council and the Toronto Hispanic-Chamber of Commerce.
