Chalkers provide high quality food, drinks and entertainment for social gatherings in an upscale, yet casual environment. Our pub fare menu offers unique, mid-priced appetizers, entrees, and desserts served in generous portions. In addition to our great food, we feature eighteen draught taps, a wide selection of domestic and imported brew, and a vast liquor and cocktail menu that rivals no other.
Chalkers Pub Billiards & Bistro emphasizes a high energy environment with twelve billiard tables, free access to high-speed wireless internet, satellite and cable coverage of a variety of sporting events, a large accommodating dance floor, and on-going, top quality live entertainment and promotions.
We believe the design of our establishment plays a vital role in our success. We strive to create a distinctive, highly entertaining and unique atmosphere.
Chalkers features one of North York’s largest and trendiest patios, multiple cocktail lounges, a cozy dining lounge, and the grand billiard room, all serviced by our professional and courteous staff. Polished brass accents, warm lighting and rich wood finished interior set the mood for all occasions.
Chalkers is proud to be celebrating its 20th year in business, and its fifth year of presenting jazz. In the fall of 2006, music programmer/musician/clinician Allan Gorman partnered with Chalkers' forward-thinking owner Steve Greco to start a weekly jazz series.
The first regular acts were Brandi Disterheft, (then just beginning to compose and lead the band which would go on to record the Juno-winning "Debut"), and Juno-nominated saxophonist-composer Tara Davidson. Since that time, the club has played host to such internationally renowned jazz musicians as Don Thompson, John Abercrombie, Sheila Jordan, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Tony Monaco, and has welcomed Jerome Sabbagh from Paris/NYC, Grammy-nominated Donny McCaslin, and many other visiting players.
Chalkers has also been the site of live recordings for both CBC Radio's Canada Live, and Jazz FM's Ken Page Memorial Trust series, and has hosted numerous CD launch events for local and visiting artists. The club has also become the weekly home of Lisa Particelli's vocal phenom, "Girls Night Out", a singers' jazz jam held every Wednesday evening, which draws vocalists and listeners from, literally, around the globe.
Never one to rest on its laurels, the club's team happily announces two new exciting regulars for the fall season. Randall Finney's Toronto Fingerstyle Guitar Society hosts an open stage on alternating Thursdays, and a monthly concert series featuring international guitarists such as NYC's Adam Rafferty. "Grand Tuesdays" highlights prodigious piano talent Robi Botos in classic trio format (featuring Attila Darvas on bass and Frank Botos on drums) on the club's new 6'1" Shigeru Kawai SKIII.
This gorgeous piano, made possible by a partnership with Merriam Music was hand-picked by multi-instrumentalist Don Thompson. This piano and the stellar sound system and in-house technician make Chalkers one of the city's finest venues for performing or listening.
